Lingerie by Day

March 31, 2010

The sheer fabrics, the draping, the over-sized and dropped armholes that are demanding my attention in this obscene LA spring heat all necessitate an entirely new approach to undergarments. In order to avoid looking like your undies were an after-thought and to prevent overexposure, there’s a new array of designs deigned to make your visible straps, side-boob and belly-button grazing necklines stylish and deliberate rather than… tasteless and whorish? Looks I’m also loving involve transforming what would traditionally be considered apparel for the boudoir into everyday, wearable looks.

As a side note, is it me or does most of the T by Alexander Wang line look like someone raided the little boys section at the Goodwill and chose to dress themselves in all things 2 sizes to small… And as an A. Wang fan, I say that with all the love in the world.  Oh, and the below V-Cut Bra top is an exception, I love the cut and think it’d be amazing on the chestically challenged – maybe on the well-endowed girls as well, but I can’t really speak from a place of experience on that one.

1. T By Alexander Wang V-Cut Bra Top – $65

2. Honeydew Intimates Camellia Bralette – $30

3. LNA Latex Bralette – $49

4. Top Secret Sexy Back Bandeau – $40

The below pieces are lingerie-like pieces or actual lingerie I’d absolutely convert to day or evening wear with the right coordinating pieces.

1.Joie Soft Ballina Top – $58

2. Victoria’s Secret Scalloped Bridal Wrap – $58

3. Only Hearts Whisper Slip – $80

4. Natori Beloved Satin Chemise – $225
